Decluttering the Stuff for a Decluttered Life in Retirement

Decluttering the Freezer

If you are like me, once something is put in the freezer I tend to forget it exists. Anyone want a popsicle that is 11 years after expiration?? Glad I was looking for something that sparked this decluttering!

And while I was doing that, I found these drink mixes in the outside frig and freezer – just a few years after expiration!

When we had our sticks and bricks, a person could have been in our freezer and we wouldn’t have noticed it amongst all the other stuff. Now in our tiny home we only have room for a couple of items. The more room you have, the more we try to fill it. Not only a waste of money but a waste of resources. Thanks for the reminder.👍🏼

This is partly why I don’t have a freezer!

I buy food that will survive in the fridge and cupboards, and do regular small shopping trips, usually while I’m already out. There are a couple of things I miss out on, such as ice cream, but I couldn’t justify buying and keeping a freezer running just for those things.

That makes sense. That’s basically what we do during the summer while traveling. This darn pandemic sure has changed our perishable shopping.

haha We are on major lock-down again so it will just have to wait. Besides, it’s not warm enough for popcicles.
