Decluttering the Stuff for a Decluttered Life in Retirement

Day 13 of Isolation

Is it just me or is this never going to end?  I have a weird feeling that we aren’t going on vacation this summer.  Looking at the number of cases this morning seems to confirm things are getting worse, not better.

My principal sent an email this morning (midway through our spring break that’s already ruined by the pandemic) that we must check our work email HOURLY starting Monday.  Like I have nothing else to do (oh wait, I guess I don’t) but still!

They also want us to “interact” with the students starting next week.  Granted, we can’t assign anything that results in a grade and we can’t force them to “interact”.  They want all of us to set up a Zoom or Google Meet time so students have access to us.  Not sure how comfortable I am with this.  They can already message through the district platform and email us.  Is it so they can see us?  Be reassured by us?

Today on the homefront:

  • a few more weeds pulled out of the side yard
  • facetime with the kiddos
  • patio is ready for spring, I even had lunch outside today!
  • Declutter a shelf in the back bedroom so we can put our Wii stuff there.

My LadyBug friends while out with the weeds!  My social life is devolving!

For me, I am just grateful to have a job right now. Anything they ask of me, I will do and give it my best effort! I know so many people who are out of work right now and struggling.

Do you get to work from home or are you still going to work? I think it was the hourly demand that pushed my stress levels up.

Work from home but may have to go in once per week to get some stuff done. Many of my co-workers were furloughed so it’s more work for less of us but we’re just trying to get through it!

Thankfully you still have the job. I feel for your unfortunate co-workers. This is the one area that I think will have long term ramifications.

I know! We were told this morning to start planning for 12 hours of lessons per week. WHAT THE HECK??? We usually only see them for 5 hours. I think someone misread a suggestion and that secondary school students should do 12 hours of learning a week. That amounts to 2 hours a week – ungraded work of course.

I don’t know. There are so many rumors floating around and teachers are feeling overwhelmed with this transition.

First it was April, then May, now I keep hearing June, July, August… it sure doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to end.

yep all we can do is find the positives in our daily lives, as hard as that can be.

I would love to see a little light at the end of this tunnel! We were set to go on two short trips in May, both to festivals that have now been cancelled. On the upside, we cleaned off our patio today too and had lunch outside.

      Isn’t spring wonderful!

I heard Nancy Pelosi commented that the light at the end of tunnel could be a train speeding towards us. I happen to think that is a great analogy. First the train comes, then the sunlight.
